Obverse
in the centre – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue «2007 г.» (2007), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
in the centre – the image of M.M. Gerasimov at work on the man’s sculptural portrait, before him – a sketch and a sliding callipers, to the right on the matted surface: above - dates in two lines «1907» and «1970», lower - the inscription along the rim: «М.М. ГЕРАСИМОВ» (M.M. GERASIMOV); to the left in the background – four sculptural portraits.

Mikhail Mikhaylovich Gerasimov (1907-1970) – the anthropologist-sculptor and archaeologist, is known by works in the field of reconstruction of the man’s portrat by form of his skull. By his method he created more than 200 portraits of historical persons including Yaroslav the Wise, Timur, Ivan the Terrible, Friedrich Schiller and others.
