Obverse

in the center of the disc - the relief image of cupolas of the Intercession Cathedral on the Moat on the Red Square and Spassky Tower of the Moscow Kremlin, to the left above – the two-headed eagle with wings down, under the cathedral to the right - the mint trade mark, at the bottom in the centre, in three lines – the denomination and year of issue: "1 РУБЛЬ 1992" (1 RUBLE 1992), along the rim – semicircular inscriptions, to the left: "БАНК" (BANK), to the right: "РОССИИ" (OF RUSSIA).

Reverse

in the centre of the disc – the relief profile portrait of Yanka Kupala, to the right of it - dates in two lines: "1882" and "1942", below in the background of a vegetable ornament - the inscription: "ЯНКА КУПАЛА" (YANKA KUPALA).

Yanka Kupala (Ivan Dominikovich Lutsevich, 1882-1942) – National Poet of Byelorussia (1925) and member of the Byelorussian Academy of Sciences (1928). His created collected poetries ("The Psaltery Player" and "Along the Road of Life"), poems ("The Dream on the Burial Mound" and "The Lion's Grave") and plays ("Paulinka" and "A Ravaged Nest") are relied on classical Russian literature and national traditions.
