Obverse

the two-headed eagle (designed by I.Bilibin), the inscriptions along the rim framed by an ornament: at the top — «50 РУБЛЕЙ 1994 г.» (50 RUBLES 1994), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA).

Reverse

the relief picture of two flamingos, the inscriptions along the rim separated by two dots: at the top - "КРАСНАЯ КНИГА" (RED DATA BOOK), at the bottom - "ФЛАМИНГО" (FLAMINGO).

The flamingo has the nestling area on the North-Eastern sea-coast of the Caspian Sea and in the South of Turga Plateau. Though the number of Hamingo today is relatively high but there is a trend of reducing it.
