Obverse

the mirror field of the disc bears a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, over it along the rim there is the semicircular inscription "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed on both sides by doubled rhombuses, below under the coat of arms there are indications of the precious metal and its fineness on the left and the fine metal content and the mint trade mark on the right, at the bottom in the centre, in three lines, there is an inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin "2 РУБЛЯ" (2 RUBLES), and the year of issue "2019 г." (2019).

Reverse

the mirror field of the disc features a relief portrait of Mustai Karim, an image of a flying eagle – the character of the poem ‘Releasing Birds’ – to the right of the portrait, the years of the poet’s birth and death in two lines ‘1919’ and ‘2005’ to the left of the portrait, and a facsimile of his signature on the bottom right.

Mustai Karim (real name Mustafa Safich Karimov; 1919-2005) was a Bashkir Soviet classic writer, a famous Bashkir poet, writer, playwright, publicist, participant in the Great Patriotic War, and a renowned public figure.

Mustai Karim raised classic Bashkir literature traditions to a whole new level. His work embodied the very soul of Bashkortostan. He published over 100 collections of poetry and prose and over 10 plays. Among the most famous works are collections of poetry and poems ‘Black Water’, ‘Return’, ‘Europe-Asia’, plays ‘Country Ajgul’, ‘Bridenapping a Girl’, ‘On the Night of Lunar Eclipse’, short novels ‘The Joy of Our House’, ‘Trivet’, ‘Pardon’.

Mustai Karim was a passionate fighter for peace; he wrote about ethic and spiritual ideals or humanity, praised the greatness of the Soviet people and their uniqueness among other nations and cultures. Kindness and belief in people and a better future are the most crucial things that unite all of his works.
