Retail investors’ funds in brokerage accounts exceed ₽9 trillion
In 2023 Q3, the inflow of households’ funds into brokerage accounts increased to ₽329 billion (vs ₽238 billion in the previous quarter). The average amount of a retail investor’s account (excluding empty and small accounts) grew from ₽1.8 million to ₽1.9 million.
Individuals continued to show interest in the stock market amid higher incomes and elevated inflation expectations. Growth in prices and dividends also supported investors’ appetite for Russian shares. The number of brokerage clients currently exceeds 27.5 million.
Investors increased their placements in Russian shares. Moreover, they were actively buying corporate bonds of oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical companies.
