Bank of Russia eases temporary procedure for foreign cash transactions

From 20 May 2022, banks are allowed to sell any foreign currency cash to citizens without restrictions except US dollars and euros.
Current restrictions on the US dollar and the euro cash sales will remain in force, and until 9 September 2022, citizens can buy only those US dollars and euros that have been received at banks’ cash desks after 9 April 2022. Previously, these restrictions applied to all foreign cash.
The permission to sell currency other than the US dollar and the euro without restrictions is due to the availability of foreign cash balances at banks.
