Material: Brass plated steel

The coin is disc-shaped, yellow in color and has ledges along the rim on both sides — obverse and reverse. The material of the coin has ferromagnetic characteristics.

The obverse

  • in the center — the emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle with wings down), under it the semicircular inscription: БАНК РОССИИ (BANK OF RUSSIA)
  • to the right under the eagle’s left paw — the mint trade mark;
  • along the rim — the denomination in two words: ДЕСЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ (TEN RUBLES);
  • on the bottom of the coin — two horizontal lines divided by a dot and the year of mintage under it.

The reverse

  • in the center, a little to the left — denomination of the coin: the figure 10 and word under it РУБЛЕЙ (RUBLES) written horizontal
  • below along the rim and on the right part of the disc — the stylized vegetable ornament in form of a branch with two interwoven caulescents;
  • inside of the figure „0” — the hidden pictures — the figure: „10” and the inscription: „РУБ” (RUB) visible by turns on changing the angle of vision.

The weight, dimensions and physical parameters of the coin as well as its reverse remain unchanged. The coin with denomination of 10 Rubles of 1997, which have been produced previously with the initial type of obverse, remains in circulation on the territory of the Russian Federation as a legal tender.
