Bank of Russia to take part in First World Investor Week
The International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO) is holding its first-ever World Investor Week. The event, scheduled to take place between 2 and 8 October 2017 in IOSCO member countries, will mainly be focused on raising investors’ financial awareness and improving their rights protection.
Over the course of the week, more than 70 national financial regulators will hold lectures, workshops, webinars and other events intended to raise public awareness about investment opportunities in the financial market, about operations of regulators as protectors of investor rights and about the latest initiatives on how to enhance investors’ financial awareness. The week-long event will include thematic conferences, competitions and national public awareness campaigns.
In Russia, World Investor Week is organised jointly by the Bank of Russia and the Moscow Exchange. The organisers are planning to hold a set of online conferences between 2 and 6 October. They will provide the regulator’s and the exchange’s executives the opportunity to present core investment products, to speak about the specifics of long-term investment, the risks involved and how investors can protect their rights. Additionally, universities across the country will hold lectures and workshops on investment for their students.
In Russia, World Investor Week will also involve the participation of financial organisations’ representatives, the Expert Council on Financial Literacy under the Bank of Russia and other interested financial market players.
Moving forward, IOSCO member countries are expected to hold a world investor week campaign every year.
IOSCO has launched a website dedicated to the week to support the initiative, which has been endorsed by the G20 states dedicated to the week.
The BoR website will post updates on World Investor Week in Russia and its events calendar.
