The 1150th Anniversary of Foundation of the City of Smolensk
Obverse
in the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue "2013 г." (2013), to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
in the centre of the disc on the mirror field - the relief image of the Saints Peter and Paul Church, to the left the Saint Great (Woman) Martyr Varvara Church, over them to the left - the inscription in two lines: "1150 лет" (1150 years), to the right - the outlines of urban buildings, above at the rim - the image of mythical bird Gamayun with spread wings, to the left ant to the right at the rim - figures of an archangel and the warier Mercury, on the lower part of the disc - the inscription "СМОЛЕНСК" (SMOLENSK) against the background of a vegetable ornament.
