Obverse

in the centre – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim – on top: «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre – the year of issue «2007 г.» (2007), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

in the centre – the portrait of K. E. Tsiolkovsky, to the right – images of sketches of jet vehicles against the background of the Earth and starry sky; below – the inscription along the rim: «К.Э. ЦИОЛКОВСКИЙ» (K.E. TSIOLKOVSKY) and dates “1857-1935”.

Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935) – the scientist and inventor, founder of the modern cosmonautics. For the first time he grounded possibility of employing jet vehicles for space travel, outlined the ways for developing the cosmonautics and rocket production. Technical ideas of Tsiolkovsky are applied in creating the space rocket technique.
