Obverse
in the centre – the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower – the semicircular inscription – «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top – «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO RUBLES), at the bottom – the year of issue «2006», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
a portrait of the artist, under it – the facsimile signature «АЛЕКСАНДР ИВАНОВ» (ALEXANDER IVANOV) and a palette with paint brushes, the dates in two lines on the matted field «1806» «1858», to the right – the painting «The Appearance of Christ to the People».

Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov (1806-1885) – Russian artist whose most known monumental canvas is «The Appearance of Christ to the People», and «Biblical Sketches» as well. The paintings of the artist are kept in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery and in the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg.
