The 1000-ruble Bank of Russia note of 2010 modification

In circulation since
10.08.2010
Dimensions
157×69 mm
front side
back side

The modified banknote has the same dimensions and general design as the 1000-ruble banknote of 2004 modification. The banknote colour design has been changed insignificantly. On the front of the modified banknote in the lower part of the unprinted area to the right of the main image there is a text „МОДИФИКАЦИЯ 2010 ГОДА” (2010 modification).

The modified banknotes have the following main differences:

  • the security fibres of two types are embedded in the paper (two-coloured and one-coloured grey ones);
  • the security thread is embedded in the paper. It comes out on the surface on the front of the banknote in the shape of a window;
  • the multitone & highlight watermark is located on the wide unprinted area;
  • the coat-of-arms of the city of Yaroslavl is printed in optically variable magnetic ink (OVMI) with the effect of a moving bright glossy bar;
  • on the front of the banknote at the edges of unprinted areas there are fine relief line marks;
  • at the bottom of a field with latent coloured waves (MVC effect) there is an area with constantly visible coloured waves;
  • the height of figures of the left serial number smoothly increases from the left to the right;
  • on the back of the banknote the multicoloured ornamental stripe has been changed;
  • some elements of the image have magnetic properties;
  • under a UV and IR light the banknote images differ in some aspects from the images of the banknotes of previous modifications.

On the front of the note there are two serial numbers that consist of two letters indicating the series followed by seven digits.

Security features

Security features checked in the transmitted light
Microperforation
When the banknote is held up to the source of light, one can view the note denomination „1000” formed by absolutely straight parallel rows of holes perforated in the paper. The area of a banknote with the holes does not feel rough to the touch.
Multitone & highlight watermark
The watermark is located on the wide unprinted area and consists of a multitone watermark (a fragment of the monument to Yaroslav the Wise) and an adjoining highlight watermark — the numeric value of the denomination (value numeral 1000). The highlight watermark has lighter elements than the background paper and multitone watermark. The numerals are shaded by dark lines and have the effect of volume.
front side
Security thread
The embedded metallized security thread (5-mm width) has repeated demetallized images (value numerals „1000” and rhombuses). On the back of the banknote the security thread looks like a grey stripe with dark repeated value numerals „1000” divided by rhombuses. When the banknote is held up to the light value numerals „1000” and rhombuses look light against a dark background.

Images of buildings consisting of micro elements (based on a special raster)
The image of a background building to the right of the chapel on the front of the banknote consists of small graphical elements, repeated value numeral „1000” and the text „ЯРОСЛАВЛЬ” (YAROSLAVL).
The microtext at the edges of the decorative stripe (repeated value numeral „1000” divided by dots)
On the front of the banknote at the top and bottom edges of the decorative stripe there are lines with a microtext formed by repeated value numeral „1000” divided by dots.

On the front of the banknote at the top and bottom edges of the decorative stripe there are lines with a microtext formed by repeated value numeral „1000” divided by dots.
Blind embossing
Fine coloured line marks on the left edge on the front, and fine lines at the end of the text „БИЛЕТ БАНКА РОССИИ” (The Note of the Bank of Russia) transform to the blind embossing.

Micropattern
On the reverse side of the banknote in the upper and lower parts of unprinted areas there are images consisting of fine lines that look like an even background for a naked eye. Copying these images causes their possible distortion or appearance of inappropriate light or dark images (moire effect).

Positive microtext (repeated value numeral „1000”)
In the top part of the banknote there is a positive microtext in the form of eleven lines of repeated value numeral „1000”.
Change from negative to positive microtext (repeated text „ЦБРФ 1000”)
At the bottom of the banknote there is a microtext in the form of six stripes with a repeated text „ЦБРФ1000” which smoothly changes from negative to positive from the left to the right.

Security features checked by tilting a banknote
Latent multicoloured waves (MVC+ effect)
In the lower part of the security element there is an area with constantly visible multicoloured waves. When a banknote is viewed at the right angle the upper part of the area looks one-coloured. When the banknote is tilted yellow and blue waves appear in the upper part of the security element as a continuation of constantly visible waves in the lower part.
Optically variable magnetic ink (OVMI) with the effect of a moving bright glossy bar
A bright glossy horizontal bar in the middle of the coat-of-arms of the city of Yaroslavl can be seen at the right angle. When the banknote is tilted, dynamic up-and-down move is clearly visible on the coat-of-arms. Simultaneously, the effect of a color change from blue to green is observed.
Latent image of the letters „РР” (Kipp-effect)
When a banknote is viewed at an acute angle, letters „РР” become visible on the decorative stripe. The letters become either light on a dark background or dark on a light background depending on the orientation of the banknote.
Image changing effect on the security thread
The largest fragment of the security thread is visible on the surface of the front of the banknote in the shape of a window. When the banknote is tilted, one can view either repeated value numerals „1000” divided by rhombuses or the rainbow effect on this fragment.

Security features checked by tactile effect (raised print)

The text „БИЛЕТ БАНКА РОССИИ” (the Note of the Bank of Russia), mark for people with impaired sight and emblem of the Bank of Russia have a raised relief with a tactile effect.
