Hedgehog in the Fog was released by the world-famous director Yuri Norstein at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in 1975. The touching image of the hedgehog captured the hearts of both adults and children. The film has become an iconic piece of animated cinema for many generations not only in Russia, but also worldwide. Hedgehog in the Fog was recognised as the best animated film of all times at the Laputa Animation Festival in Tokyo in 2003. The film has 40 awards in total.

The obverse of the coin features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2024 г.’ (2024), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.
The reverse of the coin features a coloured image of the main character of the Hedgehog in the Fog animated film standing on a hill cast in relief against the background of a foggy landscape, laser treated for matte finishing, and the relief inscription ‘ЕЖИК В ТУМАНЕ’ (HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG) on the left around the upper circumference.
The edge of the coin is corrugated.
The coin is minted in proof quality.
