Bank of Russia makes improvements in countering misconduct in financial markets

On 17 July 2023, the Bank of Russia starts to consolidate the functions of countering illegal activities and preventing misconduct within the dedicated departments. This decision has been made by the Bank of Russia Board of Directors.

The Financial Market Infrastructure Department will take over the function of countering the misuse of insider information and market manipulation. The consolidation of the supervision over on-exchange trading and transactions in financial instruments with the detection of misconduct will help develop the market more efficiently.

The Microfinance Market Department will be responsible for countering illegal activities and financial pyramid schemes. It will continue to monitor and combat such schemes to protect consumers.

The Department for Countering Misconduct will be disbanded on 1 October 2023.
