On issuing of commemorative coins of precious metals

On May 31, 2016 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metals:

  • Two silver proof coins in denomination of 1 Rouble – “LA-5” (catalogue number 5109-0115) and “SU-25” (catalogue number 5109-0116) of the series “The History of Russian Aviation”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles – “The Grand Peterhof Palace” (catalogue number 5115-0117) of the series “Architectural Monuments of Russia”;
  • Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0336) and 25 Roubles (catalogue number 5115-0118) “The Museum-Treasury “Armoury Chamber”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0333) “Tercentenary of the Foundation of Omsk”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0334) “The 20th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0335) “The 150th Anniversary of the Approval of the Notary System Regulations”.

Description of the coins of precious metals:

Two silver proof coins in denomination of 1 Rouble (fine metal content 7,78 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 25,0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs of each design) “The History of Russian Aviation” have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins has a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins – “1 РУБЛЬ” (1 ROUBLE) and the year – “2016”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side:

  • of the silver proof coin “LA-5” depicts a relief image of LA-5 aircraft against a coloured background. There are inscriptions: “ИСТОРИЯ РУССКОЙ АВИАЦИИ” (THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN AVIATION) performed in colour along the circumference and “ЛА-5” (LA-5) to the right of the aircraft;
  • of the silver proof coin “SU-25” bears a relief image of SU-25 aircraft against a coloured background. There are inscriptions: “ИСТОРИЯ РУССКОЙ АВИАЦИИ” (THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN AVIATION) performed in colour along the circumference and “СУ-25” (SU-25) at the bottom.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155,5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60,0 mm, mintage 1500 pcs) “The Grand Peterhof Palace” has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin has a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin – “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year – “2016”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the Grand Peterhof Palace and a monogram of Peter the Great on top. There is an inscription in three lines at the bottom: “БОЛЬШОЙ ПЕТЕРГОФСКИЙ ДВОРЕЦ” (THE GRAND PETERHOF PALACE).

Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31,1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39,0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs) and 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155,5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60,0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs) “The Museum-Treasury “Armoury Chamber” have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

  • of the silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles depicts a relief image of the Cap of Monomach. There are inscriptions along the circumference: “ОРУЖЕЙНАЯ” (ARMOURY) on top and “ПАЛАТА” (CHAMBER) at the bottom;
  • of the silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles bears a relief image of the double throne of Ivan Alekseyevich and Peter Alekseyevich. There are inscriptions along the circumference: “ОРУЖЕЙНАЯ” (ARMOURY) on top and “ПАЛАТА” (CHAMBER) at the bottom.

There is an inscription in four lines: “ПМЭФ ПЕТЕРБУРГСКИЙ МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЙ ЭКОНОМИЧЕСКИЙ ФОРУМ” (SPIEF ST. PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM).

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin has a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin – “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year – “2016”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts relief images of a sign-emblem of the Federal notary chamber and a signature of Alexander II. There are inscriptions: “150-ЛЕТИЕ УТВЕРЖДЕНИЯ ПОЛОЖЕНИЯ О НОТАРИАЛЬНОЙ ЧАСТИ” (THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPROVAL OF THE NOTARY SYSTEM REGULATIONS) along the circumference and “27 АПРЕЛЯ 1866 Г” (27TH OF APRIL 1866) in two lines on the right.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
