On issuing of coins of precious and base metals

On December 26, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues coins of:

Precious metals:

  • A gold bullion uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Roubles — «Saint George the Victorious» (catalogue number 5216-0060);

Base metals:

  • In denomination of 5 Roubles — «The East Prussian Campaign», «The Vienna Campaign», «The Berlin Campaign» and «The Prague Campaign» of the series «The 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945».

Description of the coin of precious metals:

A gold bullion uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7,78 g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 22,6 mm, mintage up to 500000 pcs), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin «ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ» (FIFTY ROUBLES) and the year of issue «2014», between them there is an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of a mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin bears arelief image of Saint George the Victorious on a horseback spearing a dragon.

Description of the coins of base metals:

Coins in denomination of 5 Roubles are 25.0 mm in diameter, white in colour and have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse: in the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coins «5 РУБЛЕЙ» (5 ROUBLES) in two lines. There is an inscription below — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) and the year of issue «2014» under it. On the left and on the right there is a stylized image of a plant branch. In the right part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side:

  • of the first coin has a relief image of a part of the monument to 1200 guardsmen in Kaliningrad. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «ВОСТОЧНО-ПРУССКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE EAST PRUSSIAN CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars;
  • of the second coin has a relief image of a monument to soviet soldiers-liberators in Vienna. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «ВЕНСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE VIENNA CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars;
  • of the third coin has a relief image of a monument to a soviet soldier erected in the memorial cemetery of the Seelow Heights. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «БЕРЛИНСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE BERLIN CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars;
  • of the fourth coin has a relief image of the «Brotherhood» monument in Prague. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «ПРАЖСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE PRAGUE CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars.

The mintage of the coins is 2000000 pcs of each design.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
