On issuing of coins of precious and base metals
On November 25, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of:
Precious metals:
- Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number
5111-0286) and 25 Roubles (catalogue number5115-0104) of the historical series «The 250th Anniversary of the Foundation of the State Hermitage»;
Base metals:
- In denomination of 5 Roubles — «The Baltic Campaign»,
«The Karelia and Arctic Liberation Campaigns (The Svir-Petrozavodsk and Petsamo-Kirkenes Campaigns)»,
«The Budapest Campaign» and «The Wisla-Oder Campaign» of the series «The 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of
1941-1945».
Description of the coins of precious metals:
Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31,1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39,0 mm, mintage 5000 pcs) and 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155,5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60,0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs), have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.
The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coins «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE ROUBLES), «ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) respectively and the year of issue «2014», between them there is an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.


The reverse side:
- of the silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles depicts relief images of the Small Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and a statue of Jupiter from the collection of the museum. There is a monogram of Ekaterina II and an inscription in two lines — «ЭРМИТАЖ 250» (HERMITAGE 250) on top;

- of the silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles bears relief images of the Winter Palace, the Small Hermitage, the Palace Square and the General Staff in Saint Petersburg. There is a monogram of Ekaterina II, an inscription in two lines — «ЭРМИТАЖ 250» (HERMITAGE 250) and a commemorative medal of 1782 with a portrait of Ekaterina II on top.

Description of the coins of base metals:
Coins in denomination of 5 Roubles are 25.0 mm in diameter, white in colour and have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.
The obverse: in the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coins «5 РУБЛЕЙ» (5 ROUBLES) in two lines. There is an inscription below — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) and the year of issue «2014» under it. On the left and on the right there is a stylized image of a plant branch. In the right part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side:
- of the first coin has a relief image of the «Monument to the Fallen in the Second World War» in Tallinn. There are inscriptions along the circumference —
«ПРИБАЛТИЙСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE BALTIC CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА
1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF1941-1945) divided by two stars;

- of the second coin has a relief image of a monument to the defenders of the Rybachiy peninsula in Murmansk region. There are inscriptions along the circumference —
«ОПЕРАЦИЯ ПО ОСВОБОЖДЕНИЮ КАРЕЛИИ И ЗАПОЛЯРЬЯ» (THE KARELIA AND ARCTIC LIBERATION CAMPAIGN) and
«ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА
1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF1941-1945) divided by two stars;

- of the third coin has a relief image of a central part of the
«Freedom Monument» in Budapest. There are inscriptions along the circumference —
«БУДАПЕШТСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE BUDAPEST CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА
1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF1941-1945) divided by two stars;

- of the fourth coin has a relief image of a monument erected in the Cemetery-mausoleum of the soviet soldiers in Warsaw. There are inscriptions along the circumference —
«ВИСЛО-ОДЕРСКАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ» (THE WISLA-ODER CAMPAIGN) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА
1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF1941-1945) divided by two stars.

The mintage of the coins is 2000000 pcs of each design.
