Sixty years ago, two spacecraft Vostok‑3 and Vostok‑4 were in space simultaneously for the first time. The flight lasted for the record 94 hours and 22 minutes. To mark this event, on 12 July 2022, the Bank of Russia issues a new commemorative coin — ‘The First Group Spaceflight’ of The Cosmos series (Catalogue No. 5111-0466).

The 3-ruble silver coin (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,100) has a round shape and is 39.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and the reverse of the coin have a relief rim around the circumference.

The obverse of the coin features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the  Russian Federation and the inscriptions ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) and ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), the year of issue ‘2022 г.’ (2022), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the St. Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse of the coin features relief images of spacecraft against the background of images of the Earth, the rising Sun and stars, laser-treated for matte finishing; and the relief inscription ‘ПЕРВЫЙ ГРУППОВОЙ КОСМИЧЕСКИЙ ПОЛЕТ • ВОСТОК‑3 ВОСТОК‑4 11.08.1962—15.08.1962’ (THE FIRST GROUP SPACEFLIGHT • VOSTOK‑3 VOSTOK‑4 11.08.1962–15.08.1962) around the circumference.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs.

The new coin is legal tender of the Russian Federation and is mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at its face value.
