On activity of OJSC UNIKORBANK

6 October 2014
Press release

The provisional administration of OJSC UNIKORBANK, appointed by Bank of Russia Order No. OD-1889, dated 25 July 2014, due to the revocation of its licence, has faced serious impediments to its activity starting the first day of performing its functions.

While hindering the activity of the provisional administration, the management of OJSC UNIKORBANK avoided submitting loan agreements and deeds of title to a building and a plot of land registered in the bank’s books with the total value of 4.5 billion rubles. This can testify to an attempt of concealing documents confirming a withdrawal of bank assets. In addition, the provisional administration revealed some facts of assets withdrawal through the purchase of knowingly illiquid bills to the amount of 290 million rubles.

The provisional administration has found out that the asset value of the bank does not exceed 1.085 billion rubles, while its liabilities stand at 4.376 billion rubles. In this connection, on 17 September 2014, the Arbitration Court of the city of Moscow declared OJSC UNIKORBANK insolvent (bankrupt) and initiated bankruptcy proceedings. The state corporation Deposit Insurance Agency was approved as a receiver.

The Bank of Russia sent information on financial operations with signs of criminal offences conducted by the former executives and owners of OJSC UNIKORBANK to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for consideration and procedural decision making.
