On the meeting of the Working group on interbank cooperation under the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission

Dmitry Skobelkin, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, and Le Minh Hung, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, discussed the current situation, challenges and development prospects of interbank cooperation at the meeting of the Working group on interbank cooperation under the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation in trade and economics and in science and technology.

The meeting brought up the issues of promoting settlements on operations and transactions using direct correspondent accounts in Russian and Vietnamese banks; encouraging mutual settlements between Russian and Vietnamese counterparties in the national currencies and enhancing the use of ruble and dong in interbank transactions; promoting cooperation in trade financing, including establishing mutual limits, using factoring and other modern instruments.

Special consideration was given to the issues of integration of Russian and Vietnamese payment infrastructures, cooperation of financial organisations in terms of rendering retail payment services, including settlements using payment cards and cross-border transfers of individuals.

The meeting was attended by Russian and Vietnamese representatives of central and commercial banks, payment systems and businesses.
