On issuing of coins of precious and base metals
On September 5, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of:
Precious metals:
- A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles —
«St. Isaac’s Cathedral (Auguste Montferrand)» (catalogue number
5115-0099) of the series «Architectural Masterpieces of Russia»;
- Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number
5111-0283), 25 Roubles (catalogue number5115-0100) and a gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (catalogue number5216-0103) of the series «Bicentenary of M.Y. Lermontov’s Birth»;
Base metals:
- In denomination of 10 Roubles — «Chelyabinsk Region» of the series «The Russian Federation» and «Tver» of the series «Towns of Martial Glory».
Description of the coins of precious metals:
A silver proof coin «St. Isaac’s Cathedral (Auguste Montferrand)» in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1500 pcs), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.
The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin «ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue «2014», between them there is an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin has a matt field on the left which bears images of a portrait of an architect Auguste Montferrand and a capital below performed in colour. To the right of them there is a relief image of St. Isaac’s cathedral in Saint Petersburg against the background of a panoramic view of the city. There is an inscription in two lines under the portrait — «ОГЮСТ МОНФЕРРАН» (AUGUSTE MONTFERRAND).

Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs), 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs) and a gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78 g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 22.6 mm, mintage 1500 pcs) of the series «Bicentenary of M.Y. Lermontov’s Birth», have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The reverse side:
- of the silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles depicts relief images of a portrait of M.Y. Lermontov on the right and two soldiers of the Russian army on the left against the background of an episode of a battle, a facsimile of the poet’s signature and dates «1814», «1841» in two lines on top;

- of the silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles bears relief images of a portrait of M.Y. Lermontov and subject compositions from his works against the background of a part of a manuscript and mountains, a facsimile of the poet’s signature on top and dates «1814», «1841» in two lines at the bottom;

- of the gold proof coin depicts relief images of a portrait of M.Y. Lermontov and a sailing boat to the left of it, a facsimile of the poet’s signature and dates «1814», «1841» in two lines on top.

Description of the coins of base metals:
A coin «Chelyabinsk Region» is combined, 27.0 mm in diameter and consists of two parts — a disc made of white metal and an outer ring around the disc made of yellow metal. The coin has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated and has an inscription «ДЕСЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TEN ROUBLES) recurring twice and divided by asterisks.
The obverse: in the upper part of the coin there is an inscription along the rim: «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part — the year of issue «2014». On the left and on the right sides of the outer ring of the coin there are stylized images of laurel and oak branches respectively, going over to the disc. In the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coin «10 РУБЛЕЙ» (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure «0» there is a protective element in the form of the figure «10» and an inscription «РУБ» (RUB) visible when changing angles of vision. In the lower part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side of the coin has an image of the Chelyabinsk Region emblem placed on the disc. There are inscriptions on the ring along the circumference — «РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ» (THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION) on top and «ЧЕЛЯБИНСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ» (CHELYABINSK REGION) at the bottom.

The mintage of the coin is 10000000 pcs.
A coin «Tver» is 22.0 mm in diameter, yellow in colour and has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated, each section contains different number of corrugations alternating with smooth sections.
The obverse: in the upper part of the coin there is an inscription along the circumference: «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part — the year of issue «2014». On the left and on the right there are stylized images of laurel and oak branches respectively. In the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coin «10 РУБЛЕЙ» (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure «0» there is a protective element in the form of the figure «10» and an inscription «РУБ» (RUB) visible when changing angles of vision.
