On issuing of coins of precious and base metals

On July 4, 2017 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins dedicated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia:

• Four silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles – “Volgograd” (catalogue number 5111-0358), “Nizhny Novgorod” (catalogue number 5111-0359), “Rostov-on-Don” (catalogue number 5111-0360) and “Samara” (catalogue number 5111-0361);
• A base metals commemorative coin in denomination of 25 Roubles in a regular and special edition designs.

Description of the coins of precious metal:

Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage up to 24000 pcs of each design) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins - “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year - “2018”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side:

• of a silver proof coin “Volgograd” depicts an image of a cartouche with the monument “The Motherland Calls” and an inscription “Volgograd” against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left - “ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin “Nizhny Novgorod” depicts an image of a cartouche with Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and an inscription “Nizhny Novgorod” in two lines against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left - “ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin “Rostov-on-Don” depicts an image of a cartouche with the Memorial Stele and an inscription “Rostov-on-Don” in two lines against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left - “ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin “Samara” depicts an image of a cartouche with the Soyuz spacecraft and an inscription “Samara” against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left - “ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA).

Description of the coin of base metals:

A base metals coin in denomination of 25 Roubles is white in colour (diameter 27.0 mm, mintage 20000000 pcs including 250000 pcs in a special edition), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, a semicircle inscription - “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) above it. There are inscriptions in three lines: “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin - “25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year - “2018”, trade mark of the Moscow mint on the right.

The reverse side:

• of a base metals coin depicts a relief image of the FIFA World Cup Trophy;

• of a base metals coin in a special edition depicts an image of the FIFA World Cup Trophy performed in colour.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
