Sales of CMTPLI and comprehensive motor insurance policies increase: 2025 H1 results
Between January and June 2025, owners of passenger cars took out 17.9 million standard compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CMTPLI) policies, which was 4.2% more year on year. The number of comprehensive motor insurance policies issued to individuals was also up by almost 5%.
Over this period, the average premium on standard CMTPLI policies for passenger cars owned by individuals declined by 4% to ₽6,800, whereas the average compensation due on them grew by 17% to ₽108,400. The average premium on comprehensive motor insurance policies issued to individuals remained virtually unchanged at ₽20,300, whereas the average compensation due on them increased by almost 12% to ₽183,100.
Overall, the insurance market grew by around one third to reach ₽1.8 trillion in 2025 H1. More details on the situation in the market in January—June 2025 are available in the Review of Key Indicators of Insurers for 2025 Q2.
