Qualified investors support stock market
The inflow of new funds into the stock market hit three-year highs. As of the end of 2024, retail investors deposited almost ₽1.8 trillion into brokerage accounts, of which ₽0.7 trillion were credited in 2024 Q4. Most of these funds were provided by qualified investors.
Over the year, the number of clients with assets in their accounts rose to five million, while the average amount of such an account was ₽2.2 million.
Over the year, the total value of the retail investor portfolio rose from ₽9.2 trillion to ₽10.6 trillion. Demand for exchange-traded funds of the money market with daily income capitalisation was the strongest. Brokers’ clients considered such funds as a liquid and profitable instrument for temporary investments amid uncertainty in the stock market. Investments in bonds have become less sensitive to interest rate changes due to the growth in the proportion of floaters.
