‘Green’ tendencies among MFOs: survey results

As many as 20% of microfinance organisations (MFOs) offer special loans to their clients for the development of environmental projects. However, only 44% of companies are ready to fully implement the ESG agenda. These are the results of the survey of 124 MFOs (about 85% of the credit market).
Most respondents adhere to the principle of social responsibility, including the improvement of financial literacy of borrowers. For instance, some corporate websites warn about potential risks when receiving loans. In addition, MFOs take part in business support projects. In particular, they provide subsidised financing to businesswomen (41%) and young entrepreneurs (44%).
