FinCERT lands Runet Prize in cybersecurity
The Bank of Russia's Financial Sector Computer Emergency Response Team (FinCERT) emerged as the only Runet Award laureate in the special Cybersecurity nomination.
The awards ceremony took place in Moscow on 23 November 2017. The Emmy-like figurines went to winners in six core, three special and one ‘popular vole’ nominations. Runet Prize is a national award organised by the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC); in 2017 ANews joined as a co-organiser.
‘Among FinCERT’s key objectives is protecting online financial consumers from phishing (fraud). It is flattering to see that our efforts in such a challenging field have been given a high rating’, said Artyom Sychev, Deputy Head of the Main Office of Security and Information Protection.
FinCERT was set up to detect and prevent cyber fraud involving financial institutions. More than 550 organisations are currently participating in information exchange with the BoR FinCERT.
