Calculation of CMTPLI payments: new rules
From 11 September 2022, the guides for calculating the cost of repair under compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CMTPLI) policies will take into account the prices of analogous automotive parts if the original ones are not available in the Russian market. This approach will apply to all car brands irrespective of the country of production to ensure equal conditions for all car owners.
Now, if an original part cannot be found in the Russian market, the information about its price is not included in the cost guide. This may lead to difficulties in CMTPLI claims settlement. The new approach will make it possible to calculate the insurance payment with account of the cost of analogues, excluding obviously low-quality spares.
Relevant changes in the unified method for estimating the cost of repair have been registered with the Russian Ministry of Justice.
