28 September 2017
News

Since the start of the year, more than 100 banks have opted into information exchange with the Bank of Russia's FinCERT. This increase takes the total number of participating lenders to 418 as of 1 September, as shown in FinCERT Report for the period between 1 June 2016 through 1 September 2017.

The document sets out up-to-date information on attacks on credit institutions detected in the period. The report also states that the increasingly active role participants have taken in information exchange has resulted in more effective counteraction against cyber attacks as their individual attributes were easier to detect.

A separate chapter covers countering malicious websites. Over the course of 2017, as many as 367 domains were blocked at the regulator’s initiative. Of this number, 44 websites belonged to pseudo- banks and 45 to sham insurers, 84 websites were mock card-to-card transfer services and 39 websites showed signs of pyramid scheme operations.
