Second All-Russian Financial Literacy Programme Competition announced
The Bank of Russia has announced the launch of the Second All-Russian Financial Literacy Programme Competition, which aims to identify the methodological developments in study programmes and teaching materials for the ‘Basics of Financial Literacy’ course.
The competition is open to schools which run the ‘Basics of Financial Literacy’ course in their 2017/2018 curriculum (either as part of mandatory subjects such as social studies or economics or as optional training courses/modules) or those intending to do so with the relevant documents proving the forthcoming inclusion of the subject. The competition aims to identify and promote the most effective training practices addressing financial literacy among schoolchildren.
The competition organisers include the Community for Financial Market Professionals Sapphire, Prosveshcheniye Publishers and the Academy of Further Education for Teachers of the Ministry of Education; they are partnering with the Bank of Russia, which is to provide expertise and information support.
Submissions are open from 28 August through 13 October 2017. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 19 October.
Submissions will compete in three nominations:
– Best study programme for the financial literacy course, comprehensive school (Grades 5–9)
– Best study programme for the financial literacy course, secondary general education (Grades 10–11)
– Best teaching materials for financial literacy (in the form of a presentation).
Each nomination will have one winner. Each contender is welcome to make multiple applications in various nominations.
The winner is to receive a diploma, a set of Basics of Financial Literacy teaching materials for a standard class of schoolchildren with the necessary licences to activate electronic versions of the study programme. Those coming in second and third will be awarded a licensed electronic training toolkit for one class. All contenders will receive certificates of participation.
The winning submissions in each of the three nominations will be published on the competition organisers’ and the Bank of Russia’s websites.
