Monitoring sectoral financial flows: uneven dynamics of payments in industries

12 May 2022
News

In April, the amount of incoming payments made through the Bank of Russia payment system decreased by 0.9% compared to the 2022 Q1 average. At the level of industries, the dynamics of financial flows remain uneven.

The decrease in the amount of payments in external demand sectors is largely due to the strengthening of the ruble and some reduction in the quantities of oil and gas production. The smaller amount of payments in consumer sectors reflects a drop in retail demand after a temporary surge a month earlier.

Contrastingly, investment demand sectors showed a slight increase in nominal payments compared to 2022 Q1. The price factor continues to significantly support the growth of financial flows amid higher inflationary pressure.

More details are available in the new issue of the review Monitoring of Sectoral Financial Flows.
