Obverse

in the center - the emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by artist I. Bilibin), under it to the right - the mint trademark. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ 1993 г.» (FIFTY RUBLES 1993), at the bottom — "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA).

Reverse

a Caucasian heathcock with grass in the background, the inscriptions along the rim separated by two dots: at the top - "КРАСНАЯ КНИГА" (THE RED DATA BOOK), at the bottom - "КАВКАЗСКИЙ ТЕТЕРЕВ" (CAUCASIAN GROUSE).

The Caucasian grouse represents one of the two heathcock families nesting in the territory of the former Soviet Union. Aparat from Caucasus it inhabits mountins of the north-eastern Turkey and northern Iran.
