Obverse

in the center - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ" (FIFTY RUBLES), at the bottom - the date "2000", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

a figure of a man flying with the help of self-made wings against the background of the starry sky, above him - a space station, under him - outlines of a field, wood, village, to the right - fragments of a window-aperture of a bell tower and a cupola of a temple. The inscription at the bottom along the rim - "РОССИЯ НА РУБЕЖЕ ТЫСЯЧЕЛЕТИЙ" (RUSSIA ON THE THRESHOLD OF MILLENNIUMS).
