Obverse

in the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "СТО РУБЛЕЙ" (ONE HUNDRED RUBLES), at the bottom - the year of issue "2003", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

the view of the Peter and Paul Fortress framed by a stylized window-arch, higher - two angels holding the coat of arms of Saint Petersburg, in the foreground - seven figures of men on an embankment, to the right - a sailing ship, in the background - two sailing ships. The inscription on a ribbon at the top along the rim - "САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ" (SAINT PETERSBURG).

The city of Saint Petersburg was founded in 1703 by Peter I the Great on the Hare's Island of the Neva River. It was the capital of the Russian Empire in 1712 - 1728 and in 1732 - 1918.
