Obverse

the two-headed eagle (designed by I.Bilibin), the letters under it indicate the metal sign, the fineness, the mint trademark and the fine metal content. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ДВА РУБЛЯ 1994 г.» (TWO RUBLES 1994), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA).

Reverse

a portrait of I.A. Krylov, below from the left to the right - some characters from his fables: a monkey with a pair of glasses, a cockerel, a bear with a double-bass, a fox and a grapevine. To the right - two dates in two lines "1769" and "1844", the inscription along the rim at the top: "ИВАН АНДРЕЕВИЧ КРЫЛОВ" (IVAN ANDREYEVICH KRYLOV).

Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (February 13 (2), 1769-November 21 (9), 1844) - a Russian fabulist and publisher. A member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences since 1841, he wrote more than 200 fables, which another famous Russian writer, Nikolai Gogol, called "a book of our people's wisdom". Krylov also wrote tragedies, comedies and librettos.
