Obverse
in the center - the emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by artist I. Bilibin), under it to the right - the mint trademark. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — "ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ 1993 г." (FIFTY RUBLES 1993), at the bottom — "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA).
Reverse
a Turkmen eublefar with grass in the background, the inscriptions along the rim separated by two dots: at the top - "КРАСНАЯ КНИГА" (THE RED DATA BOOK), at the bottom - "ТУРКМЕНСКИЙ ЭУБЛЕФАР" (TURKMENIAN EUBLEFAR).

The Turkmen eublefar, an extremely rare animal from a sub-order of lizards, is found in the Kopetdag mountains and the adjacent mountain chains of western and southern Turkmenistan.
