Obverse
in the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ" (TWENTY FIVE RUBLES), at the bottom - the year of issue "2002", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
to the left - Admiral P.S. Nakhimov on the deck, above him - the Andrew Flag (Russian navy Flag instituted by Peter I), to the right - sailing ships during a battle. The inscription at the bottom along the rim: "П.С.НАХИМОВ" (P.S. NAKHIMOV).

During the Crimea War of 1853-1856, the Russian squadron of the Admiral P.S. Nakhimov destroyed the Turkish one in the Synop bay. The Synop Sea Battle on November 18 (30.11., New Style) 1853 was the last one of the age of the sailing fleet.
