Obverse

in the centre of the disc, in the circle of dots – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)], inscriptions along the rim, above – the denomination: "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre – the year of issue "2013 г." (2013), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

on the mirror field of the disc – the relief image of three members of the expedition uploading a boat moored to the sea coast, ashore – a group of aborigines, in the background to the right – the picture of a sailing vessel against the background of the geographical map of the end of the Eurasian continent with Sakhalin and Kuryle Islands, above along the rim – the inscription "ЭКСПЕДИЦИИ Г.И. НЕВЕЛЬСКОГО 1848-1855" (RESEARCH EXPEDITION OF G.I. NEVELSKOY 1848-1855).
