Obverse

in the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom - the year of issue "2003", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

the view of the monuments of the Saint Daniel Monastery, to the right - a monument to the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow (1997, designed by V.P. Mokroussov and A.I. Korovin), the dates on a pedestal "1261 - 1303". The inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "СВЯТО-ДАНИЛОВ МОНАСТЫРЬ" (THE SAINT DANIEL MONASTERY), at the bottom - "МОСКВА" (MOSCOW).

The Saint Daniel Monastery was founded at the end of the XIIIth century by Daniel of Moscow, first Moscow Prince (1261 - 1303), the son of Alexander the Nevsky. The architectural Ensemble of the monastery consists of the Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils (XVIIth - XIXth centuries), the Trinity Cathedral (built in 1833 - 1838 by architect O.I. Bove), the St. Daniel Necropolis.
