Outstanding Russian Military Leaders and Sea Captains (P.S.Nakhimov)
Obverse
in the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom -the year of issue "2002", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right -the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
in the centre - Admiral Nakhimov on the seashore, to the left - the monument to scuttled ships in the city of Sevastopol, to the right - a cannon, in the background - sailing ships. The inscription at the top along the rim: "П.С. НАХИМОВ" (P.S.NAKHIMOV).

During the defence of Sevastopol in 1854-1855, Russian ships were scuttled to bar the entry of the hostile fleet to the bay. The troops under the command of Admiral P.S. Nakhimov heroically defended Sevastopol in the course of 349 days.
