Obverse

in the center — the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower — the semicircular inscription — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom — the year of issue «2001», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right — the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

Reverse

the complex of premises of the Savings-Bank of the Russian Federation in Moscow, above it — its Emblem, in the background — outlines of Moscow City, the inscription along the rim: «СБЕРЕГАТЕЛЬНОЕ ДЕЛО В РОССИИ» (THE SAVINGS-AFFAIRS IN RUSSIA).

The Decree of the Emperor Nikolai I from October 30, 1841 marked the beginning of founding the first savings-banks in Russia. The savings-affairs, being one of the oldest trends in the activities of credit institutes of Russia, make it possible for citizens of the country to organize their monetary savings and to form the long-term resources for crediting the real sector of the Russian economy.
