Obverse

in the center — the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower — the semicircular inscription — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom — «1999», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right — the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

the picture of the Monument of Friendship (sculptors M.F.Baburin, G.P.Levitskaya)erected in 1965 in honour of the 400th Anniversary of the joining of Bashkiriya to the Russian state.To the left —a fragment of the monument, to the right — the coat of arms of the city of Ufa. The history of the Bashkirian and Russian peoples is indissoluble connected for many centuries. In 1557 Bashkirians took out citizenship of the Russian State of their own free will. The city of Ufa, founded by a detachment of the Russian troop, named Streltsy, as a fortress was the outpost on the eastern borders of Russia.The capital Ufa is today the political and economic center of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
