Obverse
in the center - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ДВА РУБЛЯ" (TWO RUBLES), at the bottom - "2000", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
to the right in an oval - the portrait of F.A.Vassiliyev (painted by I. N. Kramskoy), lower - a palette with paintbrushes, the dates on it in two lines "1850" "1873", to the left - a fragment of his painting "The Thaw", at the bottom - the inscription in two lines: "ФЁДОР ВАСИЛЬЕВ" (FIODOR VASSILIYEV).

Fiodor Alexandrovich Vassiliyev (b. February 22, 1850 - d. October 6, 1873) - Russian landscape painter. It is characteristic for his works to be of emotional lyricism, poetical tint, the intensity of feeling and not seldom of dramatic effect ("The Thaw", "The Wet Meadow", "Barges", "The View on the Volga River", "In the Mountains of the Crimea").
