The Altai mountain ram (Ovis ammon ammon Linnaeus) inhabits the mountains of the Southern Siberia, the Tuva and Altai regions. After the intensive hunting on the threshold of the XIXth — XXth centuries it disappeared in the region behind Baikal and in the Western Altai. It is protected by the State.
