Obverse

in the centre there is a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and over it a semicircular inscription along the rim: "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed by doubled rhombuses on both sides, under the emblem, in three lines, there is an inscription: "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin’s par value "25 РУБЛЕЙ" (25 RUBLES), and the year of issue "2019 г." (2019), and on the right there is a mint trade mark.

Reverse

a relief image of the Simonov anti-tank rifle and the inscription ‘ПТРС ОБРАЗЦА 1941 г.’ (PTRS-41) underneath on the left; along the rim there are the inscriptions ‘ОРУЖИЕ ВЕЛИКОЙ ПОБЕДЫ’ (WEAPONS OF THE GREAT VICTORY) at the top and ‘С.Г. СИМОНОВ’ (SERGEI SIMONOV) at the bottom.

Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov (1894-1986) was a Soviet small arms designer. He created the PTRS-41 anti-tank rifle, which was adopted by the Red Army in August 1941.

The PTRS-41 was used in combat against medium and light enemy tanks; it had a high firing rate, manoeuvrability and armour-piercing capacity. Despite the enhancement of German tank armour in 1942 and, as a result, the decrease in PTRS-41 efficiency, the weapon continued to be used against light armoured vehicles and field entrenchments and remained among the best anti-tank rifles throughout the Great Patriotic War.
