On issuing of coins of precious and base metals

On August 29, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of:

Precious metals:

• A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles — «Spaso-Eleazarovskiy convent, Pskov region» (catalogue number 5115-0098) of the series «Architectural Monuments of Russia»;

Base metals:

• In denomination of 10 Roubles — «Tikhvin» of the series «Towns of Martial Glory»;

• In denomination of 5 Roubles — «The Battle of Moscow», «The Battle of Stalingrad» and «The Battle of the Caucasus» of the series «The 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945».

Description of the coin of precious metals:

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1500 pcs), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin «ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue «2014», between them there is an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Moscow mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin bears relief images of the Church of Three Sanctifiers of the Spaso-Eleazarovskiy convent, Pskov region; a candle, a pen and an open book with a text uttered by the Spaso-Eleazarovskiy elder Philotheus. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «СПАСО-ЕЛЕАЗАРОВСКИЙ МОНАСТЫРЬ» (SPASO-ELEAZAROVSKIY CONVENT) on top and «ПСКОВСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ» (PSKOV REGION) at the bottom.

Description of the coins of base metals:

A coin in denomination of 10 Roubles is 22.0 mm in diameter, yellow in colour and has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated, each section contains different number of corrugations alternating with smooth sections.

The obverse: in the upper part of the coin there is an inscription along the circumference: «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part — the year of issue «2014». On the left and on the right there are stylized images of laurel and oak branches respectively. In the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coin «10 РУБЛЕЙ» (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure «0» there is a protective element in the form of the figure «10» and an inscription «РУБ» (RUB) visible when changing angles of vision. In the lower part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of Tikhvin emblem. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «ГОРОДА ВОИНСКОЙ СЛАВЫ» (TOWNS OF MARTIAL GLORY) on top and «ТИХВИН» (TIKHVIN) at the bottom.

The mintage of the coin is 10000000 pcs.

Coins in denomination of 5 Roubles are 25.0 mm in diameter, white in colour and have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse: in the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coins «5 РУБЛЕЙ» (5 ROUBLES) in two lines. There is an inscription below — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) and the year of issue «2014» under it. On the left and on the right there is a stylized image of a plant branch. In the right part of the disc there is a trademark of a mint.

The reverse side:

• of the first coin has a relief image of the Monument to the defenders of Moscow. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «БИТВА ПОД МОСКВОЙ» (THE BATTLE OF MOSCOW) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars;

• of the second coin has a relief image of a part of the memorial to the «Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad» on Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «СТАЛИНГРАДСКАЯ БИТВА» (THE BATTLE OF STALINGRAD) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars;

• of the third coin has a relief image of the Monument to the defenders of Elkhotovo gates in the village of Elkhotovo. There are inscriptions along the circumference — «БИТВА ЗА КАВКАЗ» (THE BATTLE OF THE CAUCASUS) and «ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 ГГ.» (THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR OF 1941-1945) divided by two stars.

The mintage of the coins is 2000000 pcs of each design.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
