On issuing of commemorative coins of precious metals

On November 30, 2017, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metal:

  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles — „Saviour’s Transfiguration Church of the Svensk Monastery, Bryansk Region” (catalogue number 5111 — 0364) of the series „Architectural Monuments of Russia”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles — „Jiten Monastery, Tver Region” (catalogue number 5115 — 0135) of the series „Architectural Monuments of Russia”;
  • A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles — „Konstantin Andreevich Thon ” (catalogue number 5115 — 0136) of the series „Architectural Masterpieces of Russia”;

Description of the coins of precious metal:

A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 5000 pcs) has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin — „3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year — „2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the Saviour’s Transfiguration Church of the Svensk Monastery against the background of the silhouette of the monastery. There are inscriptions „ЦЕРКОВЬ СПАСА ПРЕОБРАЖЕНИЯ СВЕНСКОГО МОНАСТЫРЯ” („SAVIOUR’S TRANFIGURATION CHURCH OF THE SVENSK MONASTERY”) along the circumference on top and „БРЯНСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ” („BRYANSK REGION”) at the bottom.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1500 pcs) has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin — „25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year — „2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of the monastery against the background of the lake and town Ostashkov. There is an inscription "БОГОРОДИЦКИЙ ЖИТЕННЫЙ МОНАСТЫРЬ"∙ ТВЕРСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ" („VIRGIN JITEN MONASTERY∙TVER REGION”) along the circumference.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 25 Roubles (fine metal content 155.5 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 60.0 mm, mintage 1000 pcs) has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin — „25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year — „2017”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side of coin depicts a relief image of a portrait of K. A. Thon and the Grand Kremlin Palace against the background of the silhouette of the Red Square architectural complex. To the left of the portrait there is an inscription „КОНСТАНТИН АНДРЕЕВИЧ ТОН” („KONSTANTIN ANDREEVICH THON”) in three lines and an image of a capital performed in color.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
