Bank of Russia issues commemorative and investment coins
On 21 December 2016.The Bank of Russia issued commemorative coins dedicated to the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017.
A silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles has a mintage of 10,000 and a golden coin in denomination of 50 rubles comes with a 5,000 mintage. The reverse side of both coins bears a relief image of FIFA Confederations Cup Trophy against the background of Russian folklore pattern. The circumference at the bottom has an inscription ‘Кубок конфедераций FIFA 2017’ (FIFA Confederations Cup 2017).
Investment coins – a silver coin in denomination of 3 rubles and a golden coin in denomination of 50 rubles – are dedicated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The reverse side of the coins features a relief image of the FIFA World Cup Trophy and an inscription on the right in four lines - “Чемпионат мира по футболу FIFA 2018 в России” (2018 FIFA World Cup Russia). The silver coin comes in a mintage of up to 300,000 pieces and the golden coin has a mintage of up to 100,000 pieces.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup is also marked by four silver commemorative coins in denomination of 3 rubles and a base metals commemorative coin in denomination of 25 rubles, which comes in basic and a special edition.
The reverse side of the silver coins depicts a stylised flying ball trail, which separates an image of a football player from a depiction of various Russian cities. The first coin features the view of Yekaterinburg and the house of Nikolai Sevastyanov; the second one - the monument to the dragon Zilant and a view of Kazan; the third one – the view of Kaliningrad and the Cathedral of the city; and the last one depicts the city of Saransk and the St. Righteous Warrior Theodore Ushakov Cathedral.
Coins come with a mintage of up to 24,000 pieces of each.
The reverse side of the base metals coin in basic edition bears a relief image of the Official Emblem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The special edition features the same emblem performed in colour.
The basic edition has a mintage of 19,750,000 pieces and the special edition comes in 250,000 pieces.
