Sergey Dubinin, economist and statesman, died on 4 December 2025.
He led the Bank of Russia during a difficult period for the country’s economy and financial sector – from 1995 to 1998. In this position, Mr Dubinin made a significant contribution to the implementation of the economic stabilisation programme, steering the economy out of the hyperinflation of the early years of the transition period, and exerted a profound influence on the formation of the country’s banking system.
The Bank of Russia management expresses condolences to the relatives and friends of Sergey Dubinin.
