Viktor Gerashchenko dies

Mr Gerashchenko was an outstanding and talented person. He headed the State Bank of the USSR and the Bank of Russia during a watershed period in Russian history. In challenging conditions, Viktor Gerashchenko made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of the modern banking system after the dissolution of the USSR and to the financial stabilisation after the 1998 crisis.

The Bank of Russia management expresses condolences to Mr Gerashchenko’s relatives.
