Financial Literacy Competition announces finalists for educational programmes
On 20 October 2017, the Bank of Russia hosted the competition committee of the Second All-Russian Competition of Teaching Methods to Raise Financial Literacy among School Pupils. The committee summed up the preliminary results of the selection and assessment of educational programmes submitted to the competition. In total, 1247 applications were received from 75 regions of which 172 applications representing 45 regions have been admitted to the competition.
The competition committee headed by Anna Lazebnikova, Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Education, shortlisted competition participants for the final in three nominations:
1. Best study programme for a financial literacy course, basic general education (Years 5–9):
- Alki Gimaletdinov, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra), Raduzhny general secondary school No. 3.
- Marsel Karimov, the Republic of Tatarstan, Buinsky District, Meshcheryakovskaya general basic school.
- Irina Podshivailova, Altai Territory, Kalmansky District, G. Udartsev Kalmansky general secondary school.
- Vladimir Titov, Irkutsk Region, Irkutsk, grammar school No. 25.
- Yekaterina Khomenko, the Udmurt Republic, Izhevsk, economic and mathematics lyceum No. 29.
2. Best study programme for a financial literacy course, general secondary education (Years 10–11):
- Galina Ageeva, Stavropol Territory, Budyonnovsky District, Budennovsk, general secondary school No. 5.
- Anna Anisimova, Stavropol Territory, Stavropol, general secondary school with advanced study of several subjects No. 6.
- Natalia Gorban, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Zheleznogorsk, Academician M. Reshetnyov lyceum No. 102.
- Elena Korshunova, Rostov Region, Verkhnedonsk District, Verkhnedonsk grammar school.
- Ksenia Tikhomirova, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Krasnoyarsk, grammar school No. 6.
3. Best teaching materials in financial literacy (in presentation form):
- Anatoly Bublik, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Kharp settlement, Levsha youth creative centre.
- Marina Garchenko, Svetlana Kozlova, Volgograd Region, Volgograd, Kirovski District, secondary school No. 100.
- Nadezhda Malkova, the Mari El Republic, Yoshkar-Ola, general secondary school No. 15.
- Yekaterina Khomenko, the Udmurt Republic, Izhevsk, economic and mathematics lyceum No. 29.
- Galina Shubina, Stavropol Territory, Budyonnovsky District, Arkhangelskoye village, general secondary school No. 6.
The competition winners will be announced on 1 November at the awards ceremony to be held at the Bank of Russia.
The winners will be awarded diplomas and educational materials on Financial Literacy Basics for their entire classes. Those in the second and third places will be awarded soft copies of these educational materials, which can also be used for teaching purposes in class. All contenders will receive certificates of participation.
The papers of the winners in the three nominations will be published on the websites of the competition organisers: SAPFIR NP, Prosveshcheniye JSC, APD RTE and Bank of Russia.
To sum up the competition, an ‘Introduction of Financial Literacy to School Curricula: Pressing Issues and Achievements’ round table will be conducted. During the round table, teaches will talk about their experience in organising financial literacy lessons in various regions and will have the chance to address their questions to members of expert community, renowned scientists, methodologists and experts in education.
